The Black Phone 2 release date has been revealed for Universal and Blumhouse‘s sequel to the 2021 horror movie.

Variety revealed that The Black Phone 2 is set to release in theaters on Friday, June 27, 2025. According to the outlet, the studios describe the upcoming sequel as the “launch of a sinister new franchise.” No casting or plot information for The Black Phone 2 were given with the release date.

The Black Phone starred Oscar nominee Ethan Hawke along with up-and-coming young actors Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw. They were joined by James Ransone, Jeremy Davies, Brady Hepner, Jacob Moran, and Jordan Isaiah White. It also reunited director Scott Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill with Ethan Hawke and James Ransone, who all worked together on 2012’s Sinister.

What was The Black Phone about?

“The film tells the story of Finney Shaw, a shy but clever 13-year-old boy, who is abducted by a sadistic killer and trapped in a soundproof basement,” reads the official synopsis. “When a disconnected phone on the wall begins to ring, Finney discovers that he can hear the voices of the killer’s previous victims. And they are dead set on making sure that what happened to them doesn’t happen to Finney.”
