A Place of Our Own Trailer Sets Release Date for Acclaimed LGBTQ+ Drama

A Place of Our Own trailer for Dark Star Pictures‘ forthcoming LGBTQ+ drama has been revealed.

The film follows the difficult journey of two transgender women in India who are trying to find a new home after they were evicted from their previous place. It had its world premiere at the 2022 Tokyo International Film Festival and is scheduled to arrive in select theaters on January 12, 2024, followed by its digital release on January 16.

What to expect in A Place of Our Own?

“A Place of Our Own follows Laila & Rashni as they seek a new home after an unjust eviction, the deceptively simple plot illuminates the wide range of prejudice they face,” reads the synopsis. “Determined to find a space to thrive, Laila and Rashni depend on each other and their own inner strength to withstand the hatred that surrounds them. As challenges mount, the women find friends and support in unexpected places.”

The film is directed by Ektara Collective. The LGBTQ+ drama is being led by Manisha Soni, Muskan, Aakash Jamra, Mahima Singh Thakur, and Tanveer Ahmed. Following its U.S. premiere, the film won the Audience Award at the 2023 SXSW Film Festival.
